From now on and at regular intervals, Salon ReVue will give a space to current and relevant topics from ReVue Magazine.
New scientific findings and perspectives, innovative ideas and of course photography and questions of perception will determine the events. Representatives from the field will enter into dialogue with scientists and exchange ideas with the audience. In this way, the evenings will become joint walks between the disciplines.
In the second Salon ReVue, the topic “What we see is accusable”.
The depiction of nudity and sensuality has caused outrage over the centuries. Just as constantly, sometimes more or sometimes less explicit photographs are created and published. Scandal and self-empowerment, taboo and identification – what is it about the depiction of physicality, eroticism and sexuality in photography and where are the boundaries to punishability?
Karl-Heinz Steinle (ReVue) discusses with publisher Claudia Gehrke and photographer and Nominee of MAGNUM Photos Myriam Boulos.
In the more than 40 years since founding her konkursbuch publishing house, Claudia Gehrke has been testing the possibilities and limits of visualisations and texts around the topics of gender, the body, desire, sex and eroticism. She has been investigated several times for distributing pornography in words and pictures.
Myriam Boulos lives in Beirut, works with documentary and artistic photography and was co-founder of the bilingual feminist magazine Al Hayya. Photographs from her current series Sexual Fantasies Censored can be seen at the BERLIN PHOTO WEEK in the exhibition Jetzt: Magnum Photos.
