FUNDING OF FREELANCE PROJECTS | ONLINE

9. October 2021 10. October 2021 , 10:00

Traditional markets for professional photographers have declined in recent years; the income is hardly high enough to cover one’s own living expenses, let alone to finance freelance photographic projects. Photographers are therefore dependent on other sources to cover the costs of their long-term projects and their publication in exhibitions and photo books. In the future, alternative strategies for acquiring funding will become increasingly important, such as cooperating with funding institutions, foundations and sponsors, submitting project applications to private and public sponsors, crowdfunding and marketing one’s own work via web platforms and collectives.

The workshop provides an insight into the different ways of financing projects and teaches the basics for successfully acquiring funding. In addition to extensive theoretical input on the topic, concepts for acquiring funding for the participants’ projects will be developed.
