Money, money, money: Where does the money for photographic projects come from?

Jenny Petzold

8. May 2023 9. May 2023

The traditional markets for professional photographers have collapsed in recent years, the fees for publications in magazines and journals are barely enough to cover one’s living expenses, and the few jobs in advertising or event photography are fiercely contested. In order to realise freelance projects, photographers and photo artists are increasingly dependent on other sources of funding. It is becoming more and more important to apply for funding, to cooperate with (non-profit) organisations and to obtain funding from sponsors or the crowd. Using practical examples, the workshop deals with the different ways of financing projects and teaches the basics for a successful application. Together with the participants, financing strategies as well as cost and financing plans will be developed for their current or planned projects.
