Reading with Veronica Raimo

16. March
19:00

Veronica Raimo tells of the impositions of growing up in a completely normal, abnormal family. For this, she has found a new language that is as delicate as it is precise. With wonderful humor, she paints a picture of a young woman in the 21st century that is as chaotic as it is true.

Veronica asks herself how she could become the woman she is. Her memories take her back to her peculiar family, to say the least. Not a party goes by that the phone doesn’t ring at some point and helicopter mom Francesca calls. The father wants the family to feed only on cans of food that were shrink-wrapped before the Chernobyl nuclear accident, and in his spare time he keeps building more and more additional dividing walls into the apartment. And then there’s the brother, a pain in the ass and attention-obsessed genius. Yet it’s hard enough as it is to go from being a girl to being a woman, and preferably successful, emancipated and happy. With the award-winning, autofictional tragicomedy “None of It Is True,” Veronica Raimo has written a very funny book about the pitfalls and abysses of life.
