FOTO-TALK

13. July
19:00

Talk with the photographers Mohamad Abdouni (Beirut) and Bradley Secker (Istanbul), presentation: Ben Miller (Board Schwules Museum Berlin).

The work Treat me like your Mother is a tribute to trans* women and femme men who have largely disappeared from Beirut’s history. In collaboration with the LGBTQI+ NGO Helem, Mohamad Abdouni and his team spoke to ten women between the ages of late thirties and late fifties, photographed them and recorded their stories. Lebanese-born Mohamad Abdouni is a versatile creative mind. A photographer, filmmaker and visual artist, Abdouni has worked with a wide range of partners throughout his career, including the fashion brand Gucci, the Beirut Art Center and the FOAM Museum in Amsterdam.

Bradley Secker’s SEXugees series portrays LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers from the Middle East who are forced to work as prostitutes in Turkey. British artist Bradley Secker is based in Istanbul. His work has been published in The Guardian, on the BBC, in The Times, Der Spiegel, National Geographic and Le Figaro. He is the founder of GAYROPA, a platform for the visual documentation of queer migration to Europe.

The events will take place in English. Admission 8 € | reduced 5 €
The number of participants is limited, so we recommend booking an online ticket, which you can get here.
