Talk with the photographers Mohamad Abdouni<\/strong> (Beirut) and Bradley Secker<\/strong> (Istanbul), presentation: Ben Miller<\/strong> (Board Schwules Museum Berlin).<\/p>\n

The work Treat me like your Mother<\/em> is a tribute to trans* women and femme men who have largely disappeared from Beirut’s history. In collaboration with the LGBTQI+ NGO Helem, Mohamad Abdouni<\/strong> and his team spoke to ten women between the ages of late thirties and late fifties, photographed them and recorded their stories.\u00a0Lebanese-born Mohamad Abdouni<\/strong> is a versatile creative mind. A photographer, filmmaker and visual artist, Abdouni<\/strong> has worked with a wide range of partners throughout his career, including the fashion brand Gucci<\/em>, the Beirut Art Center<\/em> and the FOAM Museum<\/em> in Amsterdam.<\/p>\n

Bradley Secker’s<\/strong> SEXugees<\/em> series portrays LGBTIQ+ asylum seekers from the Middle East who are forced to work as prostitutes in Turkey. British artist Bradley Secker<\/strong> is based in Istanbul. His work has been published in The Guardian<\/em>, on the BBC<\/em>, in The Times<\/em>, Der Spiegel, National Geographic<\/em> and Le Figaro.<\/em> He is the founder of GAYROPA<\/em>, a platform for the visual documentation of queer migration to Europe.<\/p>\n
