Piovano<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Canadian\u00a0<strong>Ian Willms<\/strong> and the Argentine <strong>Pablo E. Piovano<\/strong> are the winners of the <strong>Greenpeace Photo Award<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pablo E. Piovano<\/strong> (* 1981) documents decades of land conflicts in Patagonia. The Mapuche peoples\u00a0fight against the destruction of their\u00a0livelihoods and claim the right to live their centuries-old traditions. In his series <strong>Patagonia \u2013 Land in Conflict<\/strong>, Piovano\u00a0contrasts the unique beauty, biodiversity and cultural diversity of Patagonia with the brutal struggle for its\u00a0future.<\/p>\n<p>In his project <strong>As Long as the Sun Shines<\/strong>, the photographer <strong>Ian Willms<\/strong> (* 1985)\u00a0shows the consequences of oil sands exploitation in Alberta, Canada. Against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, enormous clearing areas tear deep wounds into the land. The oil from the tar sands is washed with massive amounts of water, energy and chemicals \u2013 an \u201cecological disaster of\u00a0the highest explosiveness\u201d (<strong>Lars Lindemann<\/strong>, Head of Photography Magazine\u00a0GEO).<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition can be seen from 28 August until 3 November 2019.
