13. October 2023 31. August 2024

The f3 – MASTERCLASS EXHIBIT! – From the Idea to the Picture on the Wall is aimed at photographers and photo artists who are currently working on a freelance project or are considering the idea of exhibiting their work. For ten months, Katharina Mouratidi, the Artistic Director of f– freiraum für fotografie, will supervise the participants’ projects (5 blocks of 2 days each + 2 days of exhibition construction/presentation); the projects may still be in the early stages or already advanced.

From conception to production to presentation and distribution, a photographic project must meet numerous requirements in order to be shown. Municipal galleries, renowned museums, the public space or the Internet: Each presentation location places different content-related and technical demands on photographers.

In addition to a coherent exhibition concept, an aesthetically outstanding visual language and professional implementation, the projects must transport relevant topics in a catchy way and appeal to a wide, diverse audience in both form and content. Additional components, such as publications, multimedia presentations and concepts for education and outreach work, increase the chances of attracting the attention of curators and museum directors to their own work.

The know-how required for this as well as the various aspects of the conception and realization of an exhibition in cooperation with a national or international exhibition institution are the subject of the f3 – MASTERCLASS EXHIBIT! The lecturer Katharina Mouratidi, Artistic Director of f– freiraum für fotografie, has been conceiving, planning and realizing exhibitions with the most diverse cooperation partners in Germany and abroad for over 25 years. Together with her, the participants develop concepts for their individual exhibition projects and present their projects at the end of the masterclass at f– freiraum für fotografie.
